giovanni.giorgini@unibo.itGiovanni Giorgini is Professor of History of Political Thought at the University of Bologna and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Columbia University. A Life Member of Clare Hall College, Cambridge, he has been Fellow of the Italian Academy at Columbia University and Visiting Professor in many universities in the United States (Princeton, Chicago, Pittsburgh) and in Italy (Bolzano, IMT-Lucca).
He is the author of La città e il tiranno (Giuffrè, 1993), Liberalismi eretici (Edizioni Goliardiche, 1999), I doni di Pandora (Bonomo, 2002) as well as of a translation with introduction of Plato’s Politicus (Rizzoli, 2005). With Elena Irrera, he has edited The Roots of Respect (De Gruyter, 2017); with Dino Piovan, he has edited The Brill Companion to the Reception of Athenian Democracy (Brill, 2020). He is the author of numerous essays on ancient political thought and contemporary liberal theory, translations and entries in encyclopaedias.
